PCL's objective, and our brief, was to create a new composite range of handheld gauge products using a common valve block suitable for each of three variants, a linear gauge, analogue gauge and electronic gauge. Although the linear gauge had large sales potential (80,000 per annum) it was second level priority in this development.

The resultant designs are simple to manufacture and assemble, have a low component count and exceptionally good access for maintenance. Resistance to shock and other environmental impacts are addressed through the use of structural engineering plastics and thermoplastic elastomers in the body construction. Extended testing since the delivery of pre-production samples has proven the gauges to have a good service life across each of the individual elements.

PCL has retained Renfrew Group to develop new products for their expanding portfolio and to maintain the new corporate appearance across the range.
